Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Gonubie is a versatile artist with a diverse background encompassing fine art, landscape architecture, and urban design. Alongside her classical training as a musician and flautist, Gonubie's debut album, "Signals at Both Ears," embarks on a personal auditory exploration of the concept of space and the profound notions tied to the concept of home.

In "Signals at Both Ears," sonic elements are masterfully woven together through a process reminiscent of painting. This creative journey seamlessly blends synthesizers, rhythmic percussion, and sweeping chords, with the aim of submerging the listener into a realm where sound becomes the primary compass for navigating and discovering refuge.

Gonubie elaborates, "It is the spatial essence of sound, achieved through intricate layering of its components and its ethereal capacity to shape the perception of space, that resonates with me in both my music creation and sharing."

The genesis of this album arose as a departure from her work under the alias 'raresoftware,' a role that sees her DJing at some of South Africa's most prominent underground parties, radio programs, and festivals. While her work on the decks leans towards underground dance music, Gonubie privately cultivated a passion for ambient music, ultimately leading her to craft music under her newfound pseudonym.

Derived from a river and region in South Africa's Eastern Cape, where her mother's roots run deep, Gonubie's primary focus centers on the process by which individual song components coalesce into an immersive experience, translating into profound emotions. For Gonubie, it's the human capacity that allows listeners to immerse themselves in a soundscape crafted by artistry.

She explains further, "The album's title is inspired by the concept of 'binaural fusion,' wherein sounds received by each individual ear are processed by the brain to create a unified perception."
